Now this was a page turner that twisted so quick I felt like I had a bit of whiplash!

A psychological thriller, “The Housemaid” by Freida McFadden is a good read but one that took me a while to get into and a bit of perseverance to get through.
The format of the book and the style of writing fed you a slow drip of background information on each of the characters and a scattering of puzzle pieces that led the way to one thing until a different twisted truth was revealed.
The story is based on the story of Millie, recently released from prison and currently homeless, who begins working for Nina Winchester and her husband Andrew.
Part 1 of the Book provides the story from the point of view of Millie, while the second Part comes from Nina… and that is where the twists come!
If you are anything like me, the detective hat comes out straight away with these types of books and I always try to guess the big reveal.
I finished the book in about two days because I could not put it down… not necessarily for all the right reasons though. There were so many puzzle pieces that I found myself reading on so that I didn’t forget details, if that makes sense! I also had to flick back to pages I had already read to make sure I wasn’t mixing things up.
Overall it is a good book to read and I would recommend it. I found the start a little slow to get into but Part 2 was when it all picked up pace for me and the ending was a major twist.
Although it was an enjoyable ‘poolside’ type of read, unfortunately it didn’t make me rush to read the other books in the Housemaid series. I did try the next book but it just didn’t have the same pull for me.
